Art and animals

It was a rainy day in the fall of Jackson Hole, a place where we find out in the rule. But the cold and stormy seemed to stay: a great day for the National Museum of Wildlife Art visit: thought only one thing.

In a dramatic cliff overlooking the National Elk Refuge, the National Museum of Wildlife Art of the earth seems like a natural outcrop occur. The location of the museum offers a rare opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat opportunity as well as the work of art that honors them.

From the moment you drive North Jackson, you can see the rock formation of a building - the structure is perfectly suited to the home of the hill and reflects the natural beauty of the area. The building is 51,000 square meters resulting original, adapted to the context and timeless.

Turned her head to the parking lot, you can greeted by sculptures larger than life bronze. A trio of elk overlooking the Elk Refuge, a rustic shaggy bison, elk and all welcome you to what looks like a stone fortress.

The sculptures course designed by award winning landscape architect Walter Hood, is the newest art space open-air museum. This design sets the sculpture in a context of strike Gros Ventre Mountains, overlooking the National Elk Refuge and contains a natural amphitheater that hosts near the museum entrance for programs and presentations. (At some point, the route have thirty permanent and temporary works of art perfectly integrated into the environment.)

A track is divided into several winding trails with bridges and stairs that lead our divided hillside terrain new perspectives and viewpoints. For bikers and hikers easy access way the sculptures connects (via an underpass) to track newly built bicycle Jackson Grand Teton National Park. I found myself walking past installations, the beauty of art and nature, such as native grasses seemed to dance under the statues, pleased with the art, dedicated a part of nature.

To collect the mission of the National Museum of Wildlife Art, to show to interpret, and preserve the art of wildlife with the art of wildlife found highest quality in North America, in the world. The museum enriches and inspires the appreciation and understanding of the relationship between man and nature. As the first art wildlife museum, the National Museum of Wildlife Art is an important resource for organizations and individuals in the relationship between art and wildlife.

I happened to be in a position, during the "catch, Horn, Flesh & Bone" graphic design show Jay Asher visit. It is also interesting because it was the World Rhino Day.

Jay Asher is a dynamic young artist and graphic designer whose conscience designs were sold internationally. Your main goal in recent years has been to educate the public about the illegal trade in ivory and its negative effects on population decline in the world of rhinos and African elephants. Her creations strike immediately convey a clear message about the destructive nature of illegal ivory. As Wildlife Art, which are more akin to something like the Endangered Species portfolio with Andy Warhol, which has a clear social message visually to stop. This exhibition is connected with the recent initiative of the Murie Center, Wild coalition as well as the change of 8 bis 12 October 2014 Festival of Jackson Hole.

When I go with my family, enjoyed discovery gallery for children, a fun activity for children directed by the children. Complete with costumes animal world, a screen, a "piece of paper" and a puppet show, the children can go along the touch, feel and use your own creativity to create both 2D art of living life wild. Children's Discovery Gallery is fun, exciting and very well designed for children to learn about wildlife and the arts.

The history of the Museum of Wildlife Art is also interesting, in 1984, selected 10 founding directors Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with its abundant wildlife, breathtaking mountain scenery and high tourism, as a unique and effective platform for an art museum focuses on images of wildlife . The museum opened its doors for the first time as museum of Wildlife Art of the American West, May 16, 1987, at the Jackson Square.

In 1992, the National Museum of Wildlife Art three-Gallery, 5000 square meter had crossed great showcase. A fundraising campaign was launched to $ 10 million for a new facility and to raise $ 2 million euro for the operation of an endowment fund. In September 1994, the Museum opened its new facilities, 51,000 square-foot building state-of-the-art is showroom, museum expanded programs and education programs.

Represents the culmination of a lifetime of study and collection of wildlife art by Joffe and Bill Kerr, who developed the last 30 years exceeded a collection of animal art in the United States, the museum consists of 14 separate galleries, Sculpture, Museum Shop, Rising Sage Café , Discovery Kids gallery, library and administration areas.

Permanent collection of the museum of over 5,000 cataloged objects, including paintings, sculptures and works on paper by more than 100 artists from the emerging American tribes until the early modern masters. Permanent and temporary exhibitions of the museum are supplemented by innovative science education programs and highlighting art appreciation, art history, science, creative writing and American history.

In fact, a wonderful, deep and creative way to spend a rainy day in Jackson Hole.

In Savegre Tapir project saves ... Rafiki

One of the most exciting and innovative eco-lodges that are always involved in the programs are really trying to make a difference in the lives of animals that live in the area and to create a favorable environment for the animals and people.

Rafiki Safari Lodge is doing just that. Rafiki is a family operation and Safari Lodge in Costa Rica Savegre Valley. The hotel is located on the central Pacific coast, is an essential part of the biological corridor for many species of Costa Rica. An endangered species in this area is always important, but difficult Tapir.

The Tapirus bairdii or tapir is one of the four species of tapir family, and that is in the Savegre Valley. The tapir is the largest mammals in Central America. Like other tapirs are found in America, Tapir Tapir place called. Tapirs look like pigs impressive master, but they really are more genetically related to rhinos and horses.

Tapir has a brown / white spots on the face and neck smooth dark gray fur. The skin is hard, and therefore valued by humans. Grip have a nose, like the trunk of a short and cut off all the families of elephants tail tapir. A complete development Tapir can weigh around 150 to 800 kilograms and reach a height of 3.5 meters high and 6.5 meters long. A vegetarian, tapir feeds on plants, leaves and even fruits. A lover of water, proximity to water beds, streams and rivers like the Savegre River Valley.

In the warm, tropical days, tapir spend most of the day under water, only with his head. Could even your nose while swimming snorkeling. An adult Baird Tapir usually lead a solitary life and dangerous to approach and attack humans often, when it is too tight. They have sharp teeth and jaws, and the strength of the muscles behind their massive bodies.

Tapir is a large mammal, apart from the few encounters Jaguar has no other natural enemies., The average lifespan of a tapir is approximately 25 or 30 years.

After the Tapir Specialist Group of the IUCN and "tapirs play an essential role in the development and conservation of biological diversity and the role of biological indicators for the need of forests in the region of the tropical ecosystem tapir is one of the most in their habitat., The first type affected by human disturbance due to their size and sensitivity to changes in their habitat area. local extinction or decline in population can lead side effects in the forest caused disruption of processes important environmental (eg robbery and seed dispersal, nutrient cycling) and potentially jeopardize the long-term integrity of the ecosystem and biodiversity. these factors in recent years in connection with the destruction of tapir habitat justifies the urgency of a survey on the state of the population and the development and implementation of management plans and conservation. "

The clearing of forests and the manhunt, have virtually paralyzed the tapir endangered. Laws banning the hunting are rarely enforced and that there is less than 6,000 tapirs released.

The question is, how can you help? Well, Rafiki has a way Ecotourist can now to preserve the habitat of the largest tapir, and educate locals and tourists about created Global Giving.

The Rafiki Tapir Savegre project on creating awareness lurk dedicated in the Savegre River Basin and Tapir Biological Corridor in Costa Rica form. Through private land management, education and scientific studies of the location, Asana and Rafiki hope the paradigm of how people see change local tapirs. We believe that when the advantage to enjoy tapirs in the area are more likely to support conservation efforts and help save the species from extinction.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Savegre River Basin is overwhelmed by the perception of the local population, that nature is responsible for the decline in employment opportunities. Recent changes in forest law, in particular the ban on logging and deforestation have so many jobs in agriculture caused the foundation of the rural economy. Contact many illegal hunting to supplement their diet. Survival of mammals such as tapir is unlikely to occur under such conditions.

How will this project solve this problem?

Rafiki Safari Lodge is one of the few commercial establishments on the basis of conservation along the Savegre river. Today, the hotel offers the opportunity to employ nearly 20% of the nearest municipality. The extension of the model of the tapir tourism project is to stimulate close directly and immediately the economy through increased employment opportunities for the tapir enclosure. The project will also benefit the local economy through the "spill-over" increase in other business opportunities in tourism

Possible long-term effects

The Tapir Savegre Rafiki project is part of the international efforts to reintroduce tapir in the wild in their natural environment. Acquired scientific data Rafiki is invaluable to the future of tapir conservation in Costa Rica and around the world. The project is also a model for other landowners show a sustainable business model with natural resources, without the ecosystem intact.

Climate protection option for air travel

Being an eco-travelers, one of the things that are difficult to manage for the approach difficult to justify and is confusing as we can, without a trace of solid carbon fossil fuels to travel and some so our trip less impact on the planet.

When I, I realized my flight from United Airlines that my ticket had the motto:

Let the world a better place ™ - Carbon Offset Option

And then:   Sustainable Travel International calculates that offset the amount of CO2 in this range, you can use € 3.01 or another amount.

United with Sustainable Travel International (STI), a non-profit organization, the global climate and environmental organization supports partnership. This gives customers the opportunity to make a contribution to offset their carbon dioxide emissions for the trip with United.

Sustainable Travel International is a company that helps make our mark on something sustainable.

Travel companies are facing a variety of challenges: to increase rising costs, means of escape and the pressure on the bar for sustainable farming practices to reduce impact on the environment.

The real question is what carbon offsetting and how it works?

According to researchers, one climate change is a reduction in emissions of carbon or greenhouse gases to compensate or offset an emission made elsewhere produced carbon dioxide.

The carbon "offsetting must particularly or participating in programs that reduce the carbon in the atmosphere. Many of these programs are the planting of trees, the most common measure, because plants grow climate, absorb carbon dioxide, removing it the atmosphere. Backend Other research in cleaner technologies or conventional alternatives. "

Other organizations that are Carbon Offsets:

Technology companies are challenges into opportunities. These industry leaders understand the long-term success requires that managers are serving goals, while showing how their actions make a difference, to attract customers and increase brand loyalty.

Here Sustainable Travel International is offering - (which is in collaboration with United Airlines):

  • Sustainable solutions and tools to destinations DestinationsSustainability: assessment, planning, standards, marketing, sustainable destinations
  • Partnerships They strategic partner with businesses of all sizes to the development and implementation of sustainable development initiatives and innovative practices that provide a measurable return on investment.
  • STEP feasibility Step System Management provides the tools you need to design and implement its sustainability policy and action plans during the measurement and control its effects and verification efforts. The STEP program involves a series of components with specific industries developed in mind.
  • Offset through carbon emissions and climate change programs, helping companies and destinations reduce side effects and mitigate the negative impacts, while protecting the investment in community initiatives and conservation objectives, the future generations.
  • TrainingCustomized education, training and sensitization of stakeholders in programs that help build capacity in critical areas of sustainability management, while increasing buy-in for sustainability initiatives.
  • Marketing and Sustainability CommunicationsIntegrate in your marketing strategy and product development, the. An increase in visitor numbers and a stronger brand loyalty

It is not for tourists, unless States provides a way to reduce the impact of how we achieve our environmental goals.

It is almost impossible to be "carbon neutral" by saving alone. To remove the last bit of carbon, it is necessary to be creative.

What is carbon neutral? Once you have measured their emissions and do everything possible to reduce it, while on the left side are offset by the purchase of credits from a carbon neutral company.

Climate neutrality is the process by which emissions from a source of carbon credits derived also compared. A carbon credit is a measure created to one tonne of CO2 avoided or eliminated, representing a project to reduce carbon. Emission credits can by enabling activities under the Clean Development Mechanism CDM projects, emissions in developing countries that can be marketed elsewhere reduce created projects are generated. There are two main markets for the buying and selling of carbon credits: voluntary and orderly.

Once you have measured your carbon footprint, you can decide what action to take to reduce your footprint. It can how to avoid the creation of programs in the first place. It may also be opportunities to reduce emissions from a particular activity. To be environmentally neutral, should be "compensated", so that the net emissions of their activities are any remaining emissions equivalent to zero.

Climate units are usually purchased by individuals or companies, and are used to cancel or "offset" that arise during the normal course of business and everyday life issues. Carbon credits are units representing the emission reductions or "reduction" of greenhouse gas emissions.

The reduction is achieved by:

  • Reduction or avoidance of emissions - for example, through the use of renewable energies
  • Removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in soil or trees - for example, by growing a forest.

Reducing the amount of carbon emissions you produce is important for the planet and is green, but it is not always easy. You may not be able to check if your power plant that runs on coal or solar, for example (but certainly advocate of solar energy and make your home more energy efficient). Therefore, carbon offsetting has become so popular recently.

"Carbon offsetting is not the silver bullet for the problem of carbon emissions, because they often can not be answered to solve the underlying problem of tree planting, for example, only the existing carbon ;. No production reduce the same, that is, where the ultimate goal should. Yet his offsets Shopping help if you careful about the programs it supports are. "

Check with your travel agency, car rental and Airlines offer the most likely option to modify, reduce, or at least they reach a little help on the impact their target. Planes, trains or automobiles, there is a way to make your trip less impressive.

Mongolia on horseback

Ask has spent anyone time in Mongolia, and confirmed that the country can be seen from the back of a horse by far the best view, and in fact the only means of transport makes no sense at all. This applies in Mongolia, as nowhere else in the world for three reasons. First, as little comfort for the passengers, the roads are in a terrible state and vehicles manufactured in Russia for sightseeing drive an endurance test rather than comfort. Second, the landscape is ideal for traveling on horseback.

No ... no fences, no power lines, no paved roads and cities to talk about ...

The vast steppe meadow impressive proportions with no fences, no power lines, no paved roads or cities right extends from north to south Russia and China, with nothing but mountains and rivers to balance their line of movement. If the steppe gives way to the mountain, even discordant path and the only way to continue is on foot or on horseback. Finally, the horse is an integral part of the Mongolian people and their culture. Riding is as basic as breathing; is inconceivable that life is without horses. Therefore, a perfect riding sequence in what otherwise might be a rather strange and alien life. The Mongols, in particular in the field, are naturally warm, friendly and quick to laugh. Invite strangers into their Gers, generous and has tea with milk and curd, and answer questions. Those arriving by horse, have the advantage of living in a family environment both cultures, and the conversation then flows faster and easier. Mongolia is large and diverse, and there were many places I was curious ,. I opted for the spirit of the reindeer herders, to Tsaatan nomadic people to see a hike in the mountains without roads to the north and then through mountain passes to Khövsgöl lake has the reputation of being the best views in Mongolia. And because this is a very unusual part of the country, I added another walk in southern Ulaanbaatar steppes along the edge of the Gobi, where the landscape is with the traditional white gers meadows, and herds of domesticated horses, goats and sheep dotted.

Mongolia is unrivaled inhabited woodland, desert, steppe and lakes are more than 15 different ethnic groups a unique area of the geographical and human diversity. Join us on an adventure riding in Mongolia to experience this culture first hand and seat.

The horses are deeply rooted in the culture of Mongolia; They are an indication of the wealth of a man. The pace of life is controlled by the speed of the horse and the horses are woven into Mongolian song, verse and story. Babies learn to ride before walking, and dexterity of a young man measured by his talent as a driver.

This provides an ideal for a small tour to discover surroundings, a way of life has changed since the time of the Golden Horde, as "Devil Riders" Genghis Khan created the largest empire the world has ever known changed.

It is a visually stunning experience of emptiness and expanse on horseback across the steppe quietly without trees, completely free of fences, paved roads, power lines or permanent structures, no evidence of human activity so far extends, except for proper shepherds and their flocks .

The lovingly designed each trip to Mongolia introduced a concept of travel is possible and desirable. You are to live with horses and camel carts in the wild, the choice of nomadic life. This is a call for an active holiday for little effort, but with plenty of rest and fun.

They are south of Ulaanbaatar pass some 120-150 km in treeless steppe. Select bridgehead some good riding horses among the hundreds available. His team moved from camp to camp drawn in traditional wooden carts by Bactrian camels. On the way you pass the families of nomadic herdsmen. Human traits and wide landscape are perhaps the most interesting, since all families in the region are pastoralists. In summer, traveling with their herds in search of greener pastures. Guests of the area are the farmers strong horses, and compete in various competitions Naadam. The Mongolian equestrian tradition is a living cultural heritage from the time of the Huns and Genghis Khan.

A transportation in Mongolia, which makes no sense at all, the horse is. Around the world, different cultures maintain an equestrian tradition - but none can compare Mongols. For these people, the vast grasslands of Inner Asia known as the steppe horse as basic as breathing; is inconceivable that life is without horses. Runners who led my group in the spirit of the reindeer herders rolled Trek as if they were part of his horse, as simple as walking and smiling indeed. Dressed with a horse and Dell, were an independent autonomous unit.

Mongolian horses are short, no more than 14hh, unrefined with rather large heads. They were not wanted for breeding, and remained throughout the centuries as a secret weapon of the Mongols almost intact in the desert. These small horses are hard as modest wire, steadfast, with the incredible strength and is well adapted to the harsh Mongolian winter. Never see the inside of a fenced enclosure, and spend their lives without shoes. On this remarkable horses, Genghis Khan and his army of archers - Golden Horde - they were able to conquer much of Asia and Eastern Europe, has seen the establishment of the largest empire the world.

"I was lucky in Mongolia this summer (2006) when the country is celebrating with a special event his 800th anniversary was a recreation of battle strategies prove Genghis Khan cavalry. 500 mounted warriors thunder instead be wearing leather armor and shouted the call to war. was an impressive show. Agro-Tourism in Panama

Only about 1 1/2 south of David, Panama, La Isleta is a family Agroturistica Castrellón family in the province of Pontevedra in Spain, the livestock of the Andalusian origin, from the colonial period, when the Spaniards first arrived here.

They were pioneers in growing what is now the province of Chiriqui in the Republic of Panama. The Castrellón were farmers for centuries. Because their homeland deserted, they were proud of the growth of the sample homegrown organic lean beef.

The Isleta offers tourists the opportunity to stay and work on their farms, and sometimes participate in the transport of livestock, feed the calves and watch the Cowboys lead the flock at night.

Agro-tourism is a growing industry in Panama and is so broadly defined around the world. Granja, means any operation or activity is based on agriculture, which takes visitors to a farm or ranch. Agritourism has different definitions in different parts of the world, and sometimes refers specifically to farm, but agritourism includes a variety of activities, such as buying the direct production of a farm stand, a maze to navigate feed corn, fruit crops, animals, or just stay and watch from a cabin on a farm.

The small farm Center, University of California, "Agricultural tourism or agritourism, is one alternative for improving the incomes and potential economic viability of small farms and rural communities."

In a time when we are eager to know more about the place, and that is our food comes from, it's a chance to see and some of it first hand. The people more interested in how their food is produced. You want to meet with farmers and processors and to talk to them about what happened in the food production. For many people, the businesses, especially to visit children, the visit is the first time they see the source of their food, whether a dairy cow, an ear of wheat growing in a field, or an apple, you can select the correct tree.

Farmers and ranchers used this interest to develop traffic to your farm or ranch, and concern for the quality of products, and knowledgeable about their products.

La Isleta was my first experience with the Panamanian Agroturistica style, and I must say that I was more than surprised. Upon entering the cafe, where the brothers are server head and sitting at home. The houses that grown vegetables and fresh fish caught in the morning were fine with dill and rosemary spiced beautiful garden. It was a real gourmet taste of Panamanian the middle of nowhere, apparently. But the dessert was even better since I have my glass of Chilean white wine, music began from the kitchen and took the head in her apron, and her bright eyes ... and then, to my surprise, he began to sing! To Opera to be exact! And he was nice, he poured his heart into this song, in the food and the passion to keep the family farm alive.

Then I took a walk through the mangroves, where high water, you can take a boat or kayak to the mouth of the Pacific. Birds of all kinds came to the edge of the mangroves and the water level rose slowly, as the sun went down.

Cattle came in the night, and cries Jeans reflected in water. I went to my cabin on pasture, where I sit and graze these peaceful creatures perched.

In ecotourism, the thinking not always recovered in a very friendly environment, but the reality is that these people were breeding, conservation and care of their life legacy here in this piece Panamanian soil for more than two centuries. His heart and soul lives in what they do and how they serve their food. I suggest that we take a moment and see who, what and where our food comes from From when La Isleta undoubtedly love. I

If you are in Panama, take time to visit La Isleta to eat for a night or for a bite.
Be sure to ask the opera for dessert! La Isleta is only 5 minutes after the Sentinel in the Santa Lucia River located coming the city of Panama and Santiago, David, which is about 10 minutes after entering Las Lajas Beach to form. Really worth it, if only to prove the divine garden herbs.

Costa Verde Bed and Breakfast is the answer ...

One type of problem that it, something affordable, green and given things on first landing in a foreign country site to find is overlooking Eco-travelers. Cities are not known for the center of ecotourism, but I found it - with peace and comfort, right in San José, Costa Rica - a bed and breakfast near the city, but all the traffic and crowds.

A charming detached cottage, where you can enjoy the lush tropical gardens, swim in the pool, sunbathe on the terrace, walks in the surrounding mountains or relax in the hot tub ... is a little paradise called Costa Verde Inn.

Enjoy the fresh and cool mountain as the day with a delicious healthy breakfast on the garden terrace air. The grounds are beautiful, swaying with hibiscus flowers and palm fringed and the smell of roasted coffee floating in the breeze. Breakfast is served on the terrace by the pool, and the breakfast is fantastic - fresh local watermelon, star fruit, bananas, rice and beans (a specialty of Costa Rica called Gallo Pinto) wholemeal bread (It is a vegan paradise !!) and Bio grade eggs cooked the way you want, plenty of fresh coffee Costa Rica and even a selection of teas. The best part of the delicious food? Tico delicious breakfast is included in the room rate.

The low temperature of the high mountains no need for air conditioning, but also a good transition for those coming from colder climates, before you are in the heat of the coast.

Day Eco-Park local park!

Sometimes you go and eco-travel can only be a day in the park. Whether in your own city or while traveling in an urban area, you do not have to leave the city to enjoy the benefits of appeasement, time with family and friends (or a moment of silence for you) in the spending nature.

During my travels, I always try to leave a public park in the city. It is the best place to get an idea of the community to breathe some fresh air, exercise and see a bit of green.

According to APA. "People enjoy the time they spend in the parks of the city, either walking a dog, playing basketball or a picnic Besides these facilities, the recovery is expected, may also parks offer benefits health, a direct contact with nature and a cleaner environment, opportunities for physical activity and social interaction offer ... "

Our city parks are important to our social health and the physical environment.

Parks provide people with nature, known and lend improve welfare some health benefits. To improve opportunities for physical activity in the parks fitness and reduce obesity. Resources parks can reduce the climate, air, and the impact of water pollution on public health.

Take your water bottle, fill a basket with organic picnic and head to the next to enjoy the warm summer days more green space (and do not forget your sunscreen!) My favorite sunscreen ment as natural garden sun goddess, a mineral sunscreen rated annual suns guide to the Environmental Working Group.

My great picnic lunch consisting of:

If only the lunch, and it does not fit the bill, find a fun to play free game, here are some ideas from the old days, which are always fun with family and friends!

  • Red Rover - lined up in two rows facing each other, hands and call the people running to the other side to try to break his hands.
  • Capture the Flag - you have banners and ribbons and two balls.
  • Dodgeball - always a favorite family fun! You need a flexible balloon
  • Hideaway - the old classics
  • TAG your heart rate!
  • Frisbee - Ultimate or regular?
  • Football - It's the season of World Cup (also known as soccer)
  • The red light / green light
  • Freeze Tag

In fact, recent research suggests that exercise is effective - resulting in more confidence, and alleviating anxiety and depression - when in natural surroundings such as parks, rather than along urban roads is done (Bodin and Hartig, 2003). The opportunity for the "green movement" so-called is important for the city parks offer active.

If you are here in one of these urban environments, some of my favorite choices City Park:

Central Park, Manhattan, New York, the city park be best known in the world. Central Park is a green oasis in the center of Manhattan. Attractions the Central Park Zoo, Strawberry Fields, the Boathouse Restaurant and concerts belongs outdoor Summer Stage. You can always find a little green for you, even on the busiest days.

Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California, USA, the highest-ranking city in terms of the services of public parks. This park has it all, and a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Washington Park, Portland, Oregon has a zoo, several museums, arboretum, garden, Japanese garden, amphi-theater, archery, tennis and more pink, Washington Park Portland, an oasis in the air one of the top five countries healthier cities.

Balboa Park, San Diego, California, playing for a day and sunbathing in the park of 1,200 acres, home to the famous San Diego Zoo. If you are interested in making the most of the attractions sure to buy Balboa pass.

Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California is west of the Golden State Freeway (I-5), roughly between Los Feliz Boulevard in the south and the Ventura Freeway (SR 134) north.

Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois, you can take a trip to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, with palms and ferns in the old heart of Lincoln Park.

Detroit Metropolitan St. Clare Lake Beach, Illinois has a range of a mile promenade 1600 meters offers a magnificent view of the Lake St. Clair. The recreation center 770 acres is ideal for fishing and picnic - not to mention swimming in the Olympic size pool.

If you are lucky, in a place with more green space or state park, head, hiking, but be sure you bring your leadership is for the birds, plants or animals, so that you can see the locals that occur.

Whatever the Park, the head is not an order-Eco weekend for all ages and cost almost nothing. Support from the community parks as much as you can! Are you, your family and your friends and your planet benefits.

Nothing is as magical as you go on a boat in California crisp morning, watching the blue waves dip on the horizon, everything is colored with bluish dawn. The gulls float above the water as the coast of the coast moved away. But what is better than a day at sea? Of course, a day at sea!

Only 26 miles off the coast of Southern California, the Santa Catalina Island is an ideal destination for ecotourism, water lovers of all levels of experience, and eco-travelers seeking a little rest and relaxation, away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The small ledge often as Catalina Iceland, or just Catalina.

Catalina archipelago is part of the Channel Islands.   The Channel Islands and the Northern Channel Islands in the south - the eight islands are divided into two groups.   Catalina Iceland is one of the four southern Channel Islands. Two bus companies have regular on Catalina Iceland, starting from four communities on the continent:

Catalina Iceland is not only one of the eight islands with a large permanent civilian settlement from the city of Avalon and Two Harbors city.

The picturesque town of Avalon is only one mile. And a big thank-Eco-Avalon is the only city in California authorized by the state legislature, the number and size of vehicles driving to settle on city streets is allowed. Currently there is a waiting list of 14 years of owning a car on the island! But visitors do not have to have a car in Avalon; it is easy to explore on foot. The picturesque harbor offers embedded Avalon a good excuse to relax and enjoy the view. This makes traveling around the island in the short and simple. Many residents year 4000 across around the island just walk everywhere, though some used golf cart over distances.

George Shatto founded the quaint town of Avalon in 1887 after changing hands several times, the island of chewing gum magnate William Wrigley in 1919 was at Wrigley to be purchased to make the island a mecca for recreation and education.

After the death of William Wrigley, built the family and turned over 90 percent of the land on the island of Santa Catalina Iceland Conservancy. Today sits down on the original intentions of the Wrigley conservation work, while preserving the ecological integrity of the island.

Catalina Iceland offers visitors the right camping comfortable hotel right on the beach cottages, youth hostels family well-appointed condominiums night, this elegant 4-star guest house campaign tent lovely cottage. Whatever your budget, Catalina has a place to relax and rejuvenate.

My favorite little gem ecotourism is the Inn on Mount Ada. The former "Summer House" is a beautiful wonderful place to stay with the best view of Avalon. The Inn is a Bed-and-Breakfast in the former home of William Wrigley, from chewing gum fame. The hotel is elegant and beautiful, so I stay in the state. The room rate includes a full breakfast and lunch as well as snacks, wine and beer and ice cream during the day. It also includes a 24-hour access to a golf cart to go back at the end and move Avalon. But nothing compares to their incredible brunch., You have a do-it-yourself during lunch, mimosas and blood Marys Bar.

But the real reason to leave the beautiful island of Catalina is to go under.

One of the best things about the marine environment of Catalina is accessibility. Virtually anywhere with water is a great place to go and explore - Diving is one of the best ways to do it. You can rent diving equipment of the hotel or in most stores around the island

Enjoy the beauty of the island of Catalina and out of the water with the first dive in California. Catalina Catalina Scuba Luv Luv was recently elected as a PADI five-star resort because of its lightness, Boots state-of-the-art luxury and the staff friendly and efficient diving.
